NGAMBA CHIMPANZEE ISLAND TOUR
Ngamba Island tour from Entebbe is a popular wildlife experience centered on visiting a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees located on a forested island in Lake Victoria. The tour starts with a boat transfer from Entebbe to Ngamba Island, which takes about 45 minutes across the lake waters. Upon arrival, visitors receive an introduction to the island and the chimpanzees, followed by the opportunity to watch and feed the chimps from an elevated viewing platform. The island also offers birdwatching, wildlife encounters, and scenic views of Lake Victoria. Tours can only be done in the morning or afternoon just because there are two feeding sessions namely at 11am and 2pm. This tour provides a unique chance to observe and interact with chimpanzees in a protected habitat just less than an hour by boat from Entebbe. The experience also usually includes informative briefings on the sanctuary’s conservation mission and the plight of the chimps .
